Friday 17th May
Chris Paton is a former producer and director of BBC history programmes such as War Walks, Secret History and Meet the Ancestors. He left the BBC in 2006 to concentrate on his work as a professional genealogist, writer, lecturer and tutor. He has written several books on Scottish and Irish family history subjects, including his most recent book Tracing Your Irish Family History on the Internet, which explores through fascinating case studies the ever increasing quantity of records now available online in both the north and south of Ireland. He contributes regularly to the UK’s leading family history magazines including Family Tree and Discover My Past Scotland and has recently presented two talks at the Who Do You Think You Are Live event at Olympia, in London. Chris will be joining us for an afternoon to share his knowledge of researching both Scottish and Irish family history – a date for the diary for all budding genealogists.
